Diary of a Resurrectionist Tuesday 21st January 1812

Tuesday 21st.
Look’d out, Jack & Butler drunk as before, hindred us of going out. At Home.

An indication that whilst the Resurrectionists may have been drinkers, exhumation was not a business you could afford to be drunken in. Presumably a degree of sense and stealth were required as well as physical co-ordination…

About theresurrectionists

My name is Kirsty Chilton. I am a Medical Historian working in London and relentlessly searching for the body snatchers of 18th and 19th century London. Currently, the content of this blog is a personal project to repost and comment on the diary of 19th century Resurrectionist Joseph Naples 200 years from the time it was written.
