Diary of a Resurrectionist Sunday 2nd January, 1812

Sunday 2nd.
Went to look out, met at 5 in the evening, went to the Green, got 7 large & 3 small and 3 foetus. Same night went to Wygate 4 large & 2 small. Took them to Bartholomew.

A considerable night of resurrecting; 13 at the Green (7 adults, 3 children and 3 babies) and 6 more (4 adults and 2 childen) at Wygate; a total of 19 bodies in one night. It can be assumed that the whole party were involved.  The bodies were, as is often the case, taken to the ‘store’ at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.

About theresurrectionists

My name is Kirsty Chilton. I am a Medical Historian working in London and relentlessly searching for the body snatchers of 18th and 19th century London. Currently, the content of this blog is a personal project to repost and comment on the diary of 19th century Resurrectionist Joseph Naples 200 years from the time it was written.
